Gratuitous cuteness

The kids at the San Francisco Zoo yesterday:

Okay, so cuteness is never gratuitous.

Contradiction clinic

Posted on April 12, 2005 Written by Diane

Sophia’s current favorite toy is the My Little Pony she got for her birthday.

               SOPHIA
Mama! I have a song. Sing with me.
My little pony, my little pony, she's so
beautiful, my little pony, my little pony --
SIMON
Mama! Mama! Mama! MAMA
Yes, Simon? SIMON
I have a song too. MAMA
What is it? SIMON
My big pony, my big pony...

I think Darin and I lost thousands of brain cells because we were laughing so hard about that one. Whenever Sophia and Simon get into an argument, I start humming “My Big Pony.” (Which was the same tune as “My Little Pony,” natch.)

I foresee many years to come of this sort of argument clinic between the two of them. “That’s not an argument, that’s contradiction!”

Who let the clichés in?

Posted on April 7, 2005 Written by Diane

The kids are running around, playing together. Each is staying in character while they play.

The girl is a fairy princess.

The boy is a dinosaur.

Sigh.
