Today I watched The Hot Rock and The Thomas Crown Affair, both of them caper movies about charming thieves.

Oy. Movies have changed, folks, for the better. Trust me. If you don't believe me, watch The Thomas Crown Affair and try not to laugh hysterically. The seduction scene over a game of chess? Horrifying. And laughable. If you remember it fondly, do not watch this movie again. You'll cringe. And this was not Steve McQueen's finest hour. He barely had anything to do in this movie except laugh maniacally.

The Hot Rock, coming after recent viewings of Magic and Marathon Man, has led me to conclude that William Goldman is vastly overrated. Or else different things--certainly not plot, character, or dialogue--were valued in the 70s.

I also rented Topkapi and The Adventures of Robin Hood. I know Robin Hood will be good--I don't care if Errol Flynn was a Nazi-homosexual-child-molester, I would've done him. I'm just hoping Topkapi is as good as I remember.

Fernando came over today and helped me do a bit of redesigning around here. So be on the lookout for changes.

Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics

2 really lousy miles. I don't know what it was--my legs weren't exhausted from the day before, I was breathing okay...I just couldn't do it.

The
             Paperwork continues...
