Angel

Posted on March 19, 2003 Written by Diane

I’ve been somewhat disappointed by Buffy, both this season and last. Too many filler episodes, too many incidents of just going through the motions (albeit, not in the musical episode).

But Angel? The Buffy spinoff that took quite a while to find its feet? Angel turning bad (without turning into Angelus)? The return of Angelus? Wesley doing just about anything, including Lilah? The interesting character development we’ve had in the past week or so (you know the one I’m talking about)?

Angel has rocked.

I thought I was the only one who was eagerly anticipating each week’s episode, wondering how they were going to top themselves for unbelievable plot twists this week. But it turns out I’m not the only one who feels that way:

  • Atrios
  • Riba
  • Suckful (who goes on a rant I can get jiggy with)
  • Don

Add your voice! Angel totally rocks!

(Goddammit. The WB is showing the—gag, ptui—FOX feed. So Angel is pre-empted tonight. I know—there are more important things to worry about. But I’ve reached crisis fatigue, okay?)

What?! It’s pre-empted?! The infidels at the WB will pay for this. I must rush to my own blog to curse …

Buffy had an excellent start this season, with lots of questions and creepiness. Then it slipped. Angel had the reverse, with a lot of boring blah leading up to the interesting now. Again, the interesting part comes from all the questions. Is it possessed-Cordy or not-Cordy? Did this change in “Spin the Bottle”? Is it Connor’s kid or not? And what the heck is the plan?

If you’re dying to know what happened tonight, I found a spoiler site that proved to be accurate.

Ack! Get thee behind me Satan! I’m trying to stay away from spoiler sites. 😉

Actually, I have no self control and always peruse Ain’t It Cool News the night before the episode. I’m so ashamed.

Diane, I don’t know what kind of lame-ass TV station you and Darin have in L.A. ;), but the good old WB20 here in the Bay Area has done the moral thing and is now showing Angel in its beautiful wide-screen goodness. Whew!

Of course, you’ll be able to enjoy this fine brand of programming when you get up here. 😉

but i agree — this season btvs started out great and is crawling to its end. . .
