returning to normal
i'll just be over here, napping.
Running news:
3 miles yesterday. Nothing today.

So Bill came out already. Everywhere I went today, people were discussing it. I guess I've lived in California too long--I'm way too jaded to care.

Mind you, it's one thing on a personal level--I don't hang out with people who cheat on their spouses. I know several people who have "open" relationships with their spouses, and if that works for them, hey, whatever (but I know in one case that the wife was fooling herself). But lying really ticks me off and I have no time for it.

However, being a Nice Guy and being a Good Leader are orthogonal traits. There are some cynics who say that if you have one you can't possibly have the other, but I respectfully disagree and point to Darin as Exhibit Number One. The term "plausible deniability" was not coined because the people we send to Washington are figuring out how best to sell Girl Scout cookies.

The part I'm having the hardest time grokking is that up until last weekend Hillary didn't know. Or she knew but didn't know, if you know what I mean. Which means the whole thing about them being more partners than a married couple gets tossed out the window. If Bill and Hillary are together solely for the sake of the whole power trip, then there'd be no reason for him not to tell her what he's doing with Monica or anything else. So maybe they really are married, really are involved with one another.

Which is kind of...refreshing, you know?

So, I did a search for my name on Alta Vista--oh come on, you do it too--and found a very strange article at http://www.newmassmedia.com/ls16/diarist.html that

  1. mentions me,
  2. has commentary on my journal,
  3. has links to several other journals, such as Al Schroeder's, and
  4. does not have a link to my journal.

What up with that? I guess I should just be happy this guy is spending his drive time wondering if I'm going to sell a screenplay or not.

Yesterday: wrote. Took the Powerbook into the living room, put some movie or another on in the background, and wrote. Darin called, asked if I'd seen the President's speech, gave him high marks. I hadn't seen the speech, so I went to several websites in search of it. It took some time to find anyplace that had the text of the address, but I instantaneously found several that had analysis of the speech. Oh, talking heads: gotta love 'em.

Today: I've been ridiculously sleepy all day. I read a book and drank coffee and still couldn't rouse myself to do anything.

Best thing to happen today: I weighed myself and found I'm still 140. I figured after our vacation I would be a Blimpus Maximus, but I'm not. Cool. I think midway through the vacation I got tired of eating so much and I took to dividing up all the food on my plate in half-size portions. Which is a good way to cut down on the amount you eat.
