Two years ago: My friends interview for the Disney Fellowship. (Which they both got.)

Three years ago: I watch A Family Thing.

Four years ago: I continue with my hypochondria.

Today's news question:
What major invasion happened ten years ago tomorrow? (Hint: it happened in the Middle East.)

(Don't send me your answers. This is just a little way to expand your horizons. Honest.)

I had lunch with Tamar today, sans enfants. Yes, I know: it was a weird experience. We discussed mysteries (Tamar already wrote up quite an analysis of the genre), screenwriting, the Nicholl --

-- I didn't mention this, but former journaler Toni is also a quarterfinalist, as is the oft-mentioned Pooks. This year there are 240 quarterfinalists/248 scripts out of 4250 entries, and I can name 4 of them! --

-- and whether or not to let sleeping babies lie.

Today, before going to lunch, I put Sophia in the baby gym for a while. She rolled onto her tummy, but one of her hands was stuck in one of the rings hanging from the gym's arches. She made a repetitious grunting noise that even got Darin calling up from downstairs: "What's going on?" She didn't seem to be in pain or upset or frantic or anything; she was just lying there with her hand in one of the rings.

Finally I went over and removed her hand from the ring, since she didn't seem to be doing it herself. She blinked at me, turned her head to the side, and immediately fell asleep for an hour and a half. I let her sleep right where she was.

Tamar invited me over to her house so we could chat more, but I wanted to go home. I knew Dora was with Sophia, but I don't like to be away from Sophia for long stretches. I peek in on her during the day, just to see how she's doing with Dora. She's often gigglier than she with Mom, I'll tell you that. Harrumph. Quisling.

Tamar loaned me a whole bunch of Diana Wynne Jones books; I loaned her several amateur sleuth novels I have and a few books on how to write a mystery. Great, more books, just what I need.

Due to my leaving something I absolutely need to do until the very last thing tonight, I have to postpone my story of why I like to write movies until tomorrow!

The "childfree" movement: do they have a good point, or are they just mean-spirited and selfish?

Vote for the worst big-budget adaptation of a Michael Crichton novel: Sphere or Rising Sun?

We have an answer for the whole fuzzy dice question!
