I use Calibre for converting EVERYTHING to readable formats. I have a palm and just bought the iPad, so it was nice to see that I can covert all my stuff to epub and add it to iTunes and upload. No matter what format you are starting out with and what format you want, Calibre pretty much has you covered. And you can't beat the price... free, but they accept donations, which I was happy to give considering the work they put into this great software.

A friend mentioned Calibre to me too, so I have downloaded it and will give it a try. I think I have to read the docs though -- wow, is this interface non-intuitive.

For converting eBooks from one format to another, including Word files to ePub or MOBI, you should try Calibre. Its free and works fantastic.
