i just have to say, i have had the unfortunate experience of being on both sides of the fence, and the only time i did not "rsvp" was if I was NOT coming.... anyways, my girlfriend and I looked this up on google today just to find out what exactly RSVP meant.... for now on we are simply putting "call me if ya gonna come" seems much more to the point and maybe every dumbass out there can understand and will do just that! Think about it!

Good point. For many years people have ignorantly used RSVP without any reference to what it meant but the expectation to know French! I have no idea what RSVP stands for? let alone pronouncing it?? Those who use such term in their invites should not be disappointed if no one turns up.

I could not agree more...people need to learn basic consideration for others, and manners.

I have sent out invites for different activities, and just yesterday, for an evening with my neighbors. There are some who just NEVER pick up the phone to respond. In practise, they either show up, show up late or are no-shows. Its bothersome that they dont realize how inconsiderate their actions are.

I dont want to hurt their feelings, but I wish they see this. I thank God for you!

au voir,

i know exactly how you feel. i recently found myself planning my own wedding. i sent out invitations two months early so that i would know how many people would be attending. i only recieved note of the attendees that i had already expected to be there-close family members. when the day finally arrived i found that many people were left standing, but thankfully we had enough food and chairs at the reception . i just wish that everyone could have picked up a phone!!!
P.S. i'm glad to finally know exactly what rsvp means!! thanks!
