At one time Haagen Daz made a cinnamon ice cream that was amazing. I have only found it once and that was a couple of years ago. El Chico's in Johnson City, TN serves Cinnamon ice cream on their hot apple pie (served on a hot fajita plate) or did years ago...yummy!

The main reason Mellowdew is no longer made is it was an expensive Ice Cream to make and had a tendacy to clog, and cleaning of the machines that made it was difficult. Yes it was a great flavor but no dairy will make something that cost them more in labor costs, regardless of how the consumer feels. I would pay a premium for it .... but they don't see it that way.... it was only made in 3 gallon tubs which is why you only found it at restaurants or ice parlors. Best ice on the planet now is Blue Bell and still come in a 1/2 gallon.

I'm from East Tn. and have wondered if the old flavor mellow dew might still be available. It was a very unique flavor and would love to find it.

I have no idea what happened to Mellodew Ice Cream, but it was absolutely my favorite flavor in the whole world. Sometimes I start thinking about it and crave it so badly. I live in SE KY, and if I recall it didn't stay on the market for many years and was served in local restaurants. Seems as though it was the early 60's when it came out. I'd love to see them bring it back.

I too am from East Tennessee (Limestone). Mellowdew ice cream was just scrumtiously yummy.... yes it was a very refreshing and unique flavor. It was made by Carolina Dairy in North Carolina. Pet Dairy (Dean Foods) purchased Carolina Dairy in the mid 90's and soon discontinued the flavor. It was only made in 3 gallon tub and sold to ice cream stores... I wish someone would bring it back.

Stroh’s Lemon Custard ice cream seems to have disappeared from the shelves here SE Michigan. I suspect it has to do with the closing of the plant in Detroit. Does anyone know if it is still available? First the orange pineapple, now the lemon.

I was looking for it all summer, too. I finally decided to try this new flavor called Lemon Chiffon to see if it tasted the same (and it does). I think they just changed the name of this fabulous flavor.
